This page explains how to cancel internet service that you enrolled in through our service, and what our role is in the cancellation process.
Our Role vs the Provider's Role
When you enroll in internet service through us, the resulting service agreement is between you and the internet service provider — not us. Cancellation must be initiated with the provider directly, because they are the party that bills you and operates your service.
We are happy to walk you through how to cancel and what to expect, but we do not have the authority to cancel service on your behalf. Each provider has its own cancellation process, return policies, and any applicable early-termination fees.
How to Cancel Cleanly
- Set up your new service first (if you are switching). Confirm it is working before you cancel the old one — this avoids being without internet during the transition.
- Call the provider you are cancelling. Use the customer service number on their bill or website. Confirm the cancellation date and ask for written confirmation.
- Return any equipment. Most providers require you to return their modem, router, or gateway within 30 days to avoid unreturned-equipment charges. Keep your tracking receipt.
- Check the final bill. Final bills sometimes include prorated charges or fees for the partial month. Confirm everything is correct.
Early Termination Fees
Most current internet plans no longer require an annual contract. However, some plans — especially TV bundles or older promotional plans — may include an early termination fee if you cancel before the contract end date. Always confirm contract terms with the provider before enrolling.
If You Are Within a Trial Window
Many providers offer a 14–30 day satisfaction window during which you can cancel without a fee. Specific terms vary — check your service agreement or ask the provider.
